Hello and welcome to the family. My husband also has small cell lung cancer. He's now almost 6 years out post treatment. He had surgery to remove the right lower lobe but they decided no treatment was needed at that time. The cancer came back in the right upper lobe in less than a year. So off to chemo and radiation we went. This is a great place to get info and ask questions. I hope you'll take advantage of that.

Welcome to the family. I'm also the caregiver/spouse for my husband who has limited small cell lung cancer. He was initially diagnosed in Dec, 2013, had surgery with no treatment and was told he was cured. It came back in less than an year. Then he had radiation and chemo. It was a tough go but he reached his 5 year post treatment mark April, 2020. If you have any questions, just fire away.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply, much appreciated as we are in a similar position as caregiver and spouse. I dont understand why sugery.
My husband was diagnosed a few months ago with Stage III SCLC, and was told he cannot get surgery for his condition. So he is now receiving his chemo treatments and beginning radiation therapy next week.
I know it will be a long and hard road. Thank goodness I am in a better place, accepting and dealing with this unfortunate situation. Hope and prayer will get us through with the help of God.

@ dlo4654 They did surgery in the right lower lobe the first time the cancer was found in 2013. When it came back in the right upper lobe in Dec 201 it was too large and poorly positioned to do surgery. It was pushing on his esophagus and close to his heart. So off to chemo and radiation we went. I wish you both all the luck in the world. Hubby had everyone praying for him. Couldn't hurt!
