      Hi Patricia,
I was on Tamoxefen for five years after my cancer which had spread to my lymph nodes. About two years post diagnosis, I was diagnosed as hypothyroid. They say it is not cancer related and now I am on synthroid, get bloodwork every six months to monitor the dose and am doing fine! The primary areas for metastatic breast cancer are bones, brain and liver. That said, be sure you see your doctor to discuss. I usually see both my general practioner and oncologist so I can get multiple opinions when somehting comes up. Go Gators~ I am from Gainesville too!!

Hi Patricia... I could give opinions, as can others. However you have to ask this of your oncologist. People can get different types of cancer. I do know if you have your thyroid removed and begin taking thyroid medication... Your life doesn't change a bit. If it's cancer you might have radiation, or whatever... But Please get yourself back to the doctor that you trust AND do what he suggests is best for you! God Bless You.

I am sorry that these health issues have been coming up for you. There is a syndrome that has as one of its features that Thyroid and breast cancer as well as possible other cancers occur within weeks months or a year or so of each other. I want to say this is Cowden's syndrome, but I can't be sure. Talk with your oncologist about this, and ask. I wish you health and prayers... hugs
