I see bone sarcomas as the majority of my practice. As a "front-line" Pediatric oncologist I have have the opportunity of knowing hundreds of families with challenging situations from osteosarcoma and Ewings sarcoma. My father had prostate cancer and radiation ; later he died from metastatic lung cancer- after chemo and radiation, so my family has also experienced first hand what is is like to have hope- then loss-of-hope knowledge transform into the gift of time some good memories.
Some treatment and long-term-follow-up issues are common and sometimes easily solved problems; others are life threatening and unique -one-of -a kind. Certainly life for all of us pcancer patints and care providers is not boring- there is so much to do! Now more than ever there is a community of patients and care providers willing to help. It will be very, very interesting to see how WhatNext develops.
