Thanks Barry! Love that answer. I need to be more diligent. I have made some big changes but could do better.

pmooty asked a questionColorectal (Colon) Cancer
Diet and CEA levels

Mine was 1.6 the day I was diagnosed with colon cancer from Colonoscopy. So not an indicator that I had cancer. At most it peeked to 3.8 during chemo and back to 1.3 now over a year out of chemo. To me it is not something I worry about. I have changed my diet since diagnosis and more recently to work on fighting fatigue that still plagues me.

I too had a low CEA count and below 5 is insignificant. Mine went up a little during chemo, which I was told was typical, but it was always below five. I am bad with diet, but I still don't have much of an appetite. I just finished oral chemo last month. I rarely ate meat before I got sick so that is not a problem, but I am bad about sweets. I still have an Ensure every day to keep up my protein and that sort of satisfies my sweet tooth. Sugar is supposed to feed cancer so that is what I need to quit. I am IIIa. What stage are you.
