Celebration (Finished treatment): I finished treatment on April 1, 2010. I go every 6 months for follow up CT's and so far so good. I am feeling good and I just hope and pray that I keep getting good reports. It has been a long journey, and if I can help anyone else with advice or inspiration then that makes me happy.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): So now it was time to finish chemo. We went very aggressive, a combination of Rintinkin, and Fol Fox. This time I starting taking ginger about 2 days before treatment, and during treatment and the nausea was very minimal. I did loose my hair, that was tough at first, but hair will grow back and now I have beautiful curly locks which I never had before. I found that exercising in between treatments really helped with fatigue and I was able to bounce back a lot faster. Getting outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air really made a difference.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): The tumour had grown in the center of the liver, very close to the portal vein. I met with a surgeon and it was decided that I would undergo 2 months of chemo, have surgery, then finish the remainder of the chemo which was 4 months. I completed the 2 months of chemo, returned for a CT scan, the tumour had shrunk, however the surgeon would not do the surgery, saying that he did not feel comfortable with removing such a large portion of the liver. I then went to Texas (MD Anderson) and had the surgery done. Dr. Vaughtey is the liver specialists out there, and I highly recommend him. It was September 29, 2009. Everything went well. In addition to the colon cancer, I also had Stage 1 renal cell carcinoma, totally unrelated to the Colon cancer. So while I was having my liver surgery, they also removed the portion of the kidney that had the tumour. I was in the hospital for 1 week, then finished recovering at home. At first I thought I would never be the same again, but slowly as each day passed I felt better and better.

Oh No (Cancer is back/Recurred ): Then in March of 2009 on a follow-up CT Scan a tumour was found in the liver. The cancer had spread.
