Today August 3rd. I had a CT scan they had found on an ultrsound that my left Kidney had a stone which they were not concerned about but the right Kidney was partially blocked by "Somthing".I was told one Kidney was larger thanthe other. I was told they were going to inject Iodine into my viens but after taking a vile of bloodthey decided they couldn't because my Kidneys were not in 'Tip top" shape.Has anyone elsehad this happen? I am wondering what will happen next? They said the pictures would be as clear but if that is so why do they do the dye in the first place?.I have had Breast and Thyroid Cancer do either of those spread to the Kidneys?

Sorry for your difficulties. I can't say if these are known to spread to kidneys, although any cancer is subject to be able to spread, or "metastasize" to other parts of the body. How about posting this on the questions page, more people will see it there and be able to answer for you.

Thanks for yours. I have had the CT scan , they don't think it is a mass but a narrowing of the tube which is making the Kidney large. I have another appt on the 19th. I don't know what could cause a tube to narrow but guess I will find out! Anyway they could not put the Iodine in my test as my Kidneys were "Not in tip top shape".Anyone out there heard of this?

I had a carotid artery that narrowed due to radiation to the area.

I also had invasive lobular carcinoma, stage IIb. I also have a lesion on my kidney.....about 19mm. All the reports from CT scans I've had stated that they didn't know what it was because its appearance is not typical for a benign lesion. One report even went so far as to call it "renal cell carcinoma unless prove otherwise" I found a Urological Oncologist. Even he didn't know what it was and had me have further testing....MRI, IVP, and ultrasound. They are pretty sure it is a hemorrhagic cyst, stage 2. He said if it were a 3 or 4 he'd have to operate. He further explained to me some things I did not know. Kidney cancer is treated differently from breast cancer and other cancers. One is that they typically don't like to do biopsies unless they are pretty sure it is cancer because there can be a lot of false results (either negative or positive) and bleeding in the kidney from the biopsy. In addition, they are very cautious about doing surgery on a kidney. He told me if I ever had cancer again anywhere, my ability to have chemo again and the type and amount would be drastically effected by the condition of my kidneys.....if I had one or both or part of one missing from surgery. So I am on "active surveillance" to see if it changes in size or appearance by having follow-up MRI's. I also do not have any symptoms. What have your reports said about your kidneys?
