Procedure or Surgery (Axillary Lymph Node Dissection): This was difficult to recover from. They had to remove all of my lymph nodes and 5 of the 24 removed were treatment affected so I received a PCR. However they nicked a nerve and I still struggle with that arm today. I wear a sleeve at times because I feel like I am carrying around a bowling ball. I have been to the lymphedema clinic but no signs of lymphedema. I have also went to Physical Therapy to regain motion back in my arm. I have a lot of cording so it is a constant stretching and exercise movements with that side.

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy): The procedure went well and when I got my pathology reports back on the cancer in my breast I had a PCR so the chemo did it's job!

Radiation (External radiation ): The only thing I decided for the 6 weeks of radiation was to do it at Mayo so I lived out of a hotel for 6 weeks but I was lucky and had AFLAC so my hotel was paid for plus I received money weekly for the treatments. My insurance covered everything else.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): The chemo over the last five months has had different side effects depending what I was on. I found it was easier to work from home part time so that I could rest, eat, be close to a bathroom and put my feet up when needed.
