Procedure or Surgery (Other): I have blood tests and see my oncologist every 3 months to monitor my CLL. Last month the automated blood count found blast cells in my blood. A pathologist examined my blood sample and could not rule out blast cells. So at my regular 3 month visit the oncologist did a bone marrow biopsy and I had a CT scan to see if I had developed acute myeloid leukemia. It was a scary few days waiting for the results but thankfully both were negative and I continue with slowly progressing CLL.

Other Care (Monitoring): I have blood tests done every 3 months. My WBC count goes up a little each time but I am still at stage zero. I have not told my children or other family or friends about my diagnosis and am thinking that I will not tell them until I progress to a stage that requires treatment.

I am also 72 years old and was just diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia 2 months ago. Fortunately I am at stage zero but I have never had any heath issues so the the uncertainty about my future health is a little unsettling but I choose to not worry and just live healthy and happy and get my checkups every 3 months.
