for those who had tonsil cancer the latest stats show 85% stage 4 95% stage 3 who had a tonsillectomy and unilateral radiation treatment. doesnt mention chemo added which i had.this info is from md anderson cancer treatment centers so i believe it to be accurate.this is good news and ill take it.if anyone is interested in this latest study you could probably google it under md anderson/tonsil cancer survival rate.if you cant find it let me know. rob

      Hi rob58,
My husband just finished 39 radiation treatments and 4 chemo treatments for tonsil cancer in February. He hasn't said anything about ear and jaw pain, but perhaps it is too early for that. However, he is still experiencing lack of taste. He had his last radiation February 22. Do you remember how long it took for your taste to return and if you got all of it back? Also, do you still have trouble with dry mouth?

dear kmw,its been about a year out of treatment for me and i have gotten about 80 percent of my taste back .i can tasre sweet things and some things like baked potatoes but still some things have little or none.i do love things such as ice cream, cake, chocolate and am still able to enjoy these things,i also eat a lot of cooked vegtables with butter.as far as dry mouth i really only wakeup with dry mouth but it usualy is gone in an hour.for me this is a very minor problem.i hope this helps you.if you have any other questions please let me know. rob

Hi rob58. I had tonsil cancer 8 years ago. I had two weeks worth of Chemo and 42 radiation treatments. I never experienced ear pain, but my ears seem to itch a lot. I only remember experiencing jaw pain for a short period of time. I do get quite a bit of an ache in the lower neck or high back area. I don't know if any of this is due to my treatments. I have never asked my Doctor.
