Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): Had a 6x6x3 inch piece of meat removed from my left calf and was expecting to have skin flap or at a minimum skin graft, however, neither was needed. Spend 3 weeks on crutches, 2 more with a cane, and am now fully ambulatory. Pathology came back with a 99% kill rate on the tumor so I'm now on the 3 month checkup plan. Feeling truly blessed.

Clinical Trial (Emend ): Emend is an anti nausea, anti vomiting drug (Fosaprepitant) that has been used for chemo patients for a while now. My clinical trial was to have it via IV on day 1 and Day 4 of chemo. It worked very well (I didn't get it on Round 2 as part of the study) and had it throughout the rest of my treatments. Had very little nausea throughout chemo, other than Round 2.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): Just finished 6th (and final) round of AIM protocol, Adrymiacin, Ifosfamide, and Mesna. 5 days of chemo followed by two weeks of recovery over the past 4 months. Miserable stuff, but I think my side affects experience wasn't as bad as some. Low blood counts but haven't needed any transfusions or been hospitalized beyond first round. Was able to work 50% off the time

Procedure or Surgery (Hematoma Evacuation): Had a mass in my calf that Doctors initially diagnosed as a simple Hematoma. Decided to have it taken out at the urging of my spouse.

Oh No (Diagnosed): The surgeon that did the Hematoma Evacuation indicated things looked normal after the surgery, however, he sent the sample to a pathologist just to be certain. Two days later I get the call that I have a Sarcoma i.e. Cancer.
