Had a a lumpectomy last July. Routine colonoscopy this July found cancer which just was removed. Stage 3. Starting chemo. Anyone else had?

No personal experience. But, having a diagnosis of cancer seems to get more screening than for a person without cancer. I had a Pet Scan following my cancer treatment and they found thyroid cancer. I probably wouldn't have had the scan because I didn't have any complaints at the time. So, consider yourself lucky that they found it soon enough to treat it.

Currently dealing with Stage IV Colon Cancer, just finished with chemo started with Folfox (which was changed due to Hand & Foot Syndrome) then was on Avastin & Irinotectan. For me side effects weren't to bad had the normal tiredness after infusion with little effect on my life. Next step in treatment is Hipec (abdominal chemo). Wishing you the best as you begin chemo!

Arimidex side effects! I started on tomoxifin but had a hysterectomy and oncologist switched me to arimidex. Terrible back and side aches.

I have been on Arimidex for 2 1/2 years. The joint pain especially in my knees is bad, but I suck it up. I haven't taken Aleve, but might give it a try. I also have lower back and shoulder pain. I guess I attribute most of the joint pain to being 58 and a little overweight. After reading this, I might be on the wrong track with that line of thinking. Good to hear from others. This site is wonderful!

Gabapentin helped with my hot flashes as well. This hot weather does even challenge my relief from gabapentin though. I try to avoid spicy foods, beverages, hairdryers... and heat in general... that just aggravate the hot flashes.

I was put on Arimidex post radiation last August. I am postmenopausal. I didn't start getting side affects until I was on the drug about 2+ months. My first side affect was knee and hip pain. Going up and down stairs was very uncomfortable. Luckily that subsided after another month or so. I made sure I exercised and take Glucosamine / Chondroitin (sp) religiously.
My understanding is that the symptoms of Arimidex can vary greatly per person. I now have
      stamina, weakness, and mood issues.
I do have night sweats. Ask your medical oncologist if you can take Black Cohosh. It helps greatly. The normal dose is 3x a day. Since it has plant estrogens I now take only 1x a day. My oncologist said it was OK.
The three most commonly experienced side affects of the Arimidex are joint pain, loss of bone density and rise in cholesterol. With extensive research I found there are upwards of 15 side affects.
