I have had my port for almost 2 years... it's heaven to NOT have to be poked and prodded in veins that don't exist anymore. I was also a stage 2, aggressive. I went though 2 rounds of chemo, and although there was some sickness, they really do have great meds to help with that, so my best advice is to communicate, and take some ginger ale & crackers with you the first time. When U find out how long it will take, you can gauge if you need snacks, water, etc. in the future. Try to relax, and keep the positive spirit...that truly is the only thing that got me through.

I was there from 9am to 4:30pm yesterday. It was very long, but we packed lots of snacks. Ginger Ale will be in my bag for my next treatment. My next treatment will be two hours shorter thank God. I have to find a driver because my mom doesnt drive so I had to drive myself there and back which wasnt that bad, but I know I cant keep doing that. Are you done with chemo now???

So glad you found this site. Wish I had earlier. I have been through most all PLUS more with this disease. If I can help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask. I live in Palm Desert...so not so far away. You will do fine. Please keep me apprised of your progress.
