I have had toenails removed 3 times. They are not expected to grow back, but they do; maximum recovery is more like it since the pain is bad; maximum side effects because it affects you in so many ways and maximum impact to daily life is more accurate than minimum impact. Think about it--we take our toenails for granted until we don't have them and then we realize what we are missing. Pretty much the same with any body part.
