Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): I've had three surgeries now for thyroid cancer. The first two a week apart because the pathologist on duty at the first surgery told the surgeon the thyroid tissue wasn't cancerous. The post-op pathology report indicated otherwise, so back I went to have the rest of my thyroid out. Then 17 months later I underwent more surgery with a new surgical team at a different hospital because I still had a node in my neck and I was still producing thyroglobulin, despite two rounds of I131. They removed 26 nodes from the central and right side of my neck - 4 nodes were cancerous. Now 20 months later I have discovered a new node again on the right side. I have an appointment with my endocrinologist in 5 weeks. So can anyone tell me, is this how it goes for the rest of your life?

Hi scarflady, thank you for sharing your story. You raise a good question, and I think you will get a greater response if you posted this in our Questions section. You can do this by clicking on "Questions" in the purple bar above, and your question will also be routed to those most likely to be able to help.

Hi scarflady, I just found this site yesterday and see we're 'neighbors'. I'm in DeWitt and would love to correspond. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 2 years ago and thought I'd go it alone, and couldn't even find support. Now find that I'd like to be friends with someone who 'really understands' and can network together.
