On 11/16/2011 my wife had a total gastrectomy to remove
a maligant tumor which had not yet gone through the stomach wall. In other words the tumor was localized.
The excellent surgeon also removed 71 rpt 71 lymph nodes
from her abdomen and sent the specimens to pathology for testing for cancer cells. On 11/18/11 the pathology report
came out and said there was NO cancer found in any of the 71 lymph nodes.
So based on the complete removal of the stomach that contained the maligant tumor confined to the stomach wall, and based on the pathology report stating no cancer cells were found in any of the lymph nodes, the surgeon does not recommend that my wife have post-operative chemo or radiation treatment. He, the surgeon, considers all of the cancer is now gone from my wife's body.
Please provide Comments on this from anyone who has had the same treatment and results?
