I too am stage 0 breast cancer. My oncologist appointment is jan 14, determining if radiation will be needed. My lumpectomy had no cancer cells so was removed completely by stereotactic biopsy. I did not have nodes removed. We may be going through treatments together! Pray all goes well on the 5th for you, keep us updated.

No radiation does not cause weight gain, it did cause extreme exhaustion, at least for me. Some breast cancer patients are treated by implanting small doses of radiation in a pellet via a tube directly to the site in question.

one last thing, if you take radiation due to thyroid cancer, you may gain weight until they find the right amount of synthyroid to replace what your body would normally produce.

Are you taking any steroids? My father was given a steroid while undergoing treatment for lung cancer, including radiation. He put on weight because of the steroids.

Procedure or Surgery (Axillary Lymph Node Dissection): Yesterday I had the surgery to clip the Lymph nodes . They will be sent off to find out if they are Cancerous .I had a PET scan on Monday.I will call Friday to get the results but the Doctor said it looked "Good". I feel sore but the Doctor said he had to fish around to find them as they were very deep. The incision for this is larger than the Lumpectomy. When they get the results then that will determine if I am to get Radiation or Chemo. They are leaning towards Radiation. Does anyone have any tips to help the Radiation go smoothly? I am afraid I will be burned!

Well there is another delay. I was expecting to have the plan of action against this awful sickness but nobody followed through with my Oncolgist reqwest for the tumor to be tested for something. Whatever this is will really help in determining if Radiation is all I need. She is almost sure but wants to be positive. I know , it sounds crazy to want to get started quickly but I am the type of person ...Lets get on with it and let it be over!

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy): I am very happy with the results of my surgery. I have a very good surgeon who made a really neat incision and I had a couple of uncomfortable days but that was all. It was Cancer .
