Celebration (Remission): Had my 2nd pet scan on 14 Dec 2012, 3 months after treatment. No cancer detected, what a surprise, it's amazing the treatment they have today. I had radical chemo and radiation, left side effects that I guess will take a long time to heal. My cardiologist told me (8 Jan 2013) the brown spots in my heck, throat, and fluid between the lung and chest wall were scar tissue from the treatment and will dissolve itself in time. Does anyone else have this side effect? Other than that I am getting my strength back and keeping a positive attitude daily. I was diagnosed w/lung cancer on 5 July 2012 and was not a candidate for surgery as the tumor was located at bottom of bronchial tube and left lower lobe. Sure grateful that I didn't have the surgery as the lung specialist didn't think I would make it. Again I am grateful that devine intervention happened, that's my belief system. I am also grateful for this site, I read it daily and it has been very rewarding and interesting.

Decision Point (I am waiting for another pet scan in mid December 2012.): Will go through another pet scan on 14 Dec to see if the treatment was successful. It's a little scary to say the least.

Had last pet scan on 14 Dec 2012, treatment was successful. Feeling very grateful at this time. Still having side effects from chemo and radiation, doctor tells me this will dissolve itself eventually, sure hope so. Still have trouble getting to sleep at night, most nights that is. What next? Guess keeping myself well. Started treatment 7/30/12 and finished 9/10/12. Diagnosed on 7/5/12.

Side Effects (colapsed veins): After a while it became painful to have chemo injections due to lack of good veins.

Side Effects (Hair loss (alopecia)): I choose to shave my head and wear hats instead of a wig which I felt would be very uncomfortable. I like the hats.
