Congratulations, Pat! The surgery you had sounds like the surgery I'm going to have without the whipple. Did they ever give you a specific diagnosis beyond pancreatic cancer?

I just read your post under the feeling like a victim question. I have amazing support from my husband. I also have the worldwide support of my Sisters in the motorcycle club I belong to. However, there are times where I feel very alone. Feel free to contact me. We may have different cancers, but we are all part of the human experience. I am here for you. How can I help?

I wanted to share my good news with you. I have been accepted as a patient by one of the specialists at Moffitt Cancer in Tampa, FL. My appointment is on April 10th. Maybe now I will finally get some treatment. My oncologist is not willing to do anything or learn anything, so good-bye to him!

My cardiologist is an awesome doctor! He is really helping me a lot.

    Hi Karen,
Check with your local HRS, or Children and Family, whatever they call it in your state. When I was working with abused children, we would contact them when a family was in your situation. There should be a medically need department. In my area, you would collect your medical bills for the month, take them to the medically need office along with your proof of income. When the bills were higher than your income, they would take action and help. You may have to do it every month. This was quite a while ago, but that department should still exist.

You are getting old, lol! So am I! I had to sit and think about it in order to remember. It was the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. Florida changed it to the Department of Children and Family Services. Now, I'll really show my age: Look in the white pages of your phone book under State Government and you should be able to find the right department. I don't even think I get phone books anymore! If you can't find it, let me know the name of the state you live in and I'll see what I can do to find it online.

I just saw you are in Washington. Another thought, ask for a referral to a Social Worker, either from your doc or the hospital you had surgery in. They will know which way to go. If not, I have some NA relatives in WA and they may be able to find out for me.
