Hello! I first found you in reading your post in the can you help section. It seems like many have joint/muscle pain, and seems to get worse with Chemo treatments.

My mom was just diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, and when in for a pneumonectomy of the right lung due to the placement of her tumor being in the center of the upper and lower lung, they found the cancer in her lymph nodes.

I worry about the joint and muscle pain, she already has a lot of this and I was worried it was caused by cancer.

I like reading your wall, very inspiring! So happy for you!!!!!!!!! Gives me hope for my mom.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's condition, but it isn't necessarily terminal. They're coming up with new meds and treatments every day. That's why I participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. My team has raised a lot of money for research hoping for the day this horrible disease is erradicated. As for the muscle/joint pain, I don't think it's caused by cancer, but rather the chemo. Like I said before vitamin B-6, in massive doses, helps to prevent it. Tylenol or Ibuprophen will help relieve the symptoms . I think there are other things available that will help too. You should consult her oncologist. You do have to watch the dosage with Tylenol - possible liver damage if you over use it. Mainly though, she will just have to deal with a certain amount of it. I don't know of anything that will get rid of it completely, but it will subside after the chemo treatments have ended. I hope she does well.

Oh No (Relationship issues): Finding it increasingly more difficult to keep my some of the family positive about my mom's diagnosis. It is also very easy for some to be so focused on the financial aspect instead of her health, the main concern.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery to remove lung cancer that has spread): My mom was suppose to have her entire right lung removed, but when they went in, they found it had spread in her lymphnodes. Her pnemonectomy was cancelled. We are planning to meet with the oncologist 4 days after the surgery was cancelled.

Maybe this is the Lord's way of saying, we will treat you another way!!

Oh No (Diagnosed): My best friend and mother was diagnosed with Non-small cell lung cancer on December 21st. This was after surviving bacterial menigitis in April 2010.

The cancer diagnosis came after 2 months of X-rays, CT and PET Scans and 3 biopsies.

She has been so instrumental in my life as a child, teen, and now mother. She helps to raise my children and I cannot imagine life without her.
