    Hi Juliana,
I also remember my date that I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Mine was Feb. 20, 2012. I had my sugery prior to sugery and just completed my chemo on September 13, 2012. I hope things are going well for you.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the chemo drugs out of ones system after treatments are done.

My last chemo was on July 5th and my hair has begun to come back in slowly. I still have a body filled with muscle atrophy and my emotions are still a mess. I personally am fighting with depression and trying to reconnect with love ones. Since I am still doing radiation, I don't consider my journey over yet, in fact I documented that on my youtube blog TheEvilyn8...it doesn't feel over until the port is out and I don't have to walk into a building that includes the words (cancer) in it. I have read that it can years for symptoms to go away and some are permanent like you said. I wish you luck and keep the faith. Fight's ON!

Immediately it took about 3 days for the chemo to clear my system. Long term it took about 3 months before I began to feel the energy come back to what had been normal before cancer. Every week there seems to be a little more improvement. Hoping your recovery is amazing as you are. Yup, you have to be amazing if you are on this side of cancer and have not given up.

As many of us here have said, we all respond different to the treatments.
My oncologist waited 3 months after my last chemo to do the PET scan. She wanted to be very sure that my system was clear of the chemo. She did not want any false positive.
She always emphasizes that I have to stay very hydrated.
Every week after the last treatment I felt a little better. I am not totally ok but much, much better.
Be patient, you will keep getting better.
      Be strong, be hopeful

I just finished my 6 months round of chemo. I am so glad that I have completed that journey on September 13, 2012. I am feeling pretty well but find that I still get tired faster than before chemo. I still have some problems with other side effects but hoping that will soon subside once all the chemicals leave my body. I walked in a 5k cancer walk on Saturday September 29th and was moved to tears. It was so heart warming to see all the walker/runners who participated. Also I was surrounded by alot of family and friends.
