My mother in law was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, we were told 2 weeks ago that it was in the bile ducts and gallbladder and surgery was not a option. She agreed to radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks, doctors told her without treatment she had a year with treatment little more. Today she went and saw another doctor regarding chemo and he told her that there was also a tumor on her pancreas. Told her 4 - 6 months possibly a few more months with radiation and chemo. My mother in law is 74 most wonderful woman around never smoke, drank nothing her entire life. She is going to
do the radiation but after doing some reading not sure if it will help. Just wondered if there is anyone out there with same situation or is family member of someone who went through this. Thank you.

I have Cholangiocarcinoma however they were able to do a resection although it appears that the margins were not clear. That is why I needed radiation and chemotherapy. I just finished the radiation and the 5fu chemotherapy. I'm getting ready to start a different type of chemo. Because this cancer is pretty rare, they do not have a proven standard of care. Right now I don't know if this will keep it from coming back or growing. I'm very sorry about your mother. I am here if she has any questions about the radiation, chemo or if she just wants to talk. Please let me know if I can help

Hi, my name is Kim. I'm new to this site, but hopefully you will receive this message. You can find all of my info under kcirucci. I have been living with cholangio for 2 yrs now. I have underwent a unique resection with the only dr who was willing to perform surgery on me when no one else would. Surgery was successful. The recovery was very difficult, but 1 1/2 yrs later, I am still here and doing well. Unfortunately, this type of cancer carries a very high risk of recurrence, which unfortunately mine did. 10 months after surgery, 15 new tumors grew back in my liver (I only have 1/4 of my liver since surgery). 6 months ago I underwent a procedure known as Y90 radiation. To date, only 3 of the 15 tumors are showing activity. Although I will never be cured of this disease, I am living with it & thriving. I've even managed to become the host of a radio show called Let's Talk Cancer, which is so rewarding. I would like to help you in any way that I can. I'm not sure what state your mother-in-law lives in, but my amazing dr is in NY. I live right outside of Phila in N.J. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I am very knowledgeable about this type of cancer & can also help answer any questions you may have. You can either reach me on this site, or email me on my personal email at [email redacted]. Wishing you & your family all the best & look forward to hearing from you. Stay strong!!
