Hi. This site is extremely helpful insofar as appliances for urinary diversions are quite common. They have a tipsheet that's amazing and it lists manufacturers and includes weblinks for free samples so you can see what suits you best.
I don't have any recommendations for choosing colostomy supplies, but several people on BCAN have both. Best.
rectal pain,help
I had excruciating rectal pain during & after radiation. Don't get me started. Unfortunately, the radiation & chemo weren't enough to spare me from a permanent colostomy & removal of my rectum. I was in so much pain, I welcomed the surgery. Lidocaine & Dilaudid helped tremendously. I pray you get relief!
Your Doctor must be notified if he or she doesn't already know about your pain. Something can be done to help and your suffering shouldn't continue. I pray you find relief soon. I also had rectal cancer and have a permanent colostomy. I'm stage IV also as it spread to my lungs. If surgery is needed then I pray all goes smoothly. Keep us posted.
Thank you all.I talked to my oncologist today and he checked me,changed my pain meds to stronger meds.He is trying to talk to a surgeon now to get colonoscopydone asap.The fentanyl patch and oxycodone has already helped with the pain.Hopefully will get the colonoscopy done soon.Then a PET scan.Continuing with my chemo.God bless
