Loss (Lost loved one): After more than 12 years of fighting, my husband of 32 years decieded he was done fighting. He was tired. So he transitioned into hospice care. I took family leave from my job to stay home and care for him. It was one of the hardest, but most stisfying things, I have ever done in my life. We talked of all kinds of things. From memories, to fears to his eventual death. We laughed together, cried together and just held on to each other. When the end came I stroked his hair, and told him we would be ok, I knew he had to leave us. He opened his eyes and looked at me and was gone. With all the heartache, the worry, the sleepless nights, I would do it again in a minute. He was my friend, my lover, my companion, my protector for my whole adult life and I got the chance to say thank you, to a most wonderful man. How fortunate am I.
