Other Care (Internet rescearch): After my diagnosis I wanted to find out what foods to eat and what to avoid. I became a vegetarian, stopped all sweets and caffine and alcohol for 3 years.

Procedure or Surgery (after 8 months or so, portal taken out...finally!): It took a little longer to get my portal out due to cost I believe, but during the procedure I started laughing so hard because it actually tickled as they were trying to pry it out due to it had been in there so long it began to adhere to my skin, but it was such a bazaar feeling they thought I was crazy for laughing so hard.

I wanted to finish with a BTW...All my cancer procedure was covered by the Susan G Koman grant with the exception of the radiation treatment of which we (my husband at the time) had to pay a lump sum that we negotiated. If you don't have insurance like we didn't, it is an alternative, and Dr's will negotiate with you.
