There certainly are mutations in my breast cancer, they found them with a DNA genetic test. What your oncologist is saying doesn’t sound right, is it possible that you misunderstood him? I would ask again and also ask him to explain in detail his answer, you are entitled to that. But I also would definitely get a second opinion with another oncologist - just in case you didn’t misunderstand him. But second opinions are always a good idea anyway. And stage IV patients are the ones who get the fancy new testing and who are eligible for drug trials. We are first in line because our cancers are the most serious. And why can’t they do a biopsy? That isn’t clear, sorry!

I don't know about scls because my husband had nsclc, but his original onc wouldn't even talk to us about mutation testing--he said he didn't put any value in it. He was old-school and only focused on chemo. PLEASE pursue this with another onc; I wish we had done it much earlier in the progression of his illness! You're in my prayers
