    Sorry you are dealing with this. I will pass on the advice I got when I was diagnosed that turned out to be helpful for me (and leave out the advice that was not). First get a second opinion – it helps to work through the decision process to find the right treatment. Be patient – this is not immediately life threatening so you have time to sort through the options and get information but don’t ignore it as it is not going away Do some research – there are plenty of books on the subject and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.org ) has a lot of good information. The selection of treatment is the most stressful part – after reaching a decision it becomes a process to work through and deal with any side effects that come up. Good luck.

    Sorry that you are having to deal with this. I was diagnosed last year and treated twice (surgery first and then radiation to get things into remission). My advice is take time to do some reading and research, get a second opinion before making a treatment choice, and talk to others who have been through this. That is what I was told when I first was diagnosed and it turned out to be good advice. Good luck.
