We are sorry for the turn of events for your husband. I know what a shock it is to get a prognosis like that. If I can offer anything it's the good things that Hospice can do for you while he is able to stay at home during this time. We used Hospice for both my mother and father and it was priceless. We wish your family the best as you move through this stage.

I am so sorry. My brother is struggling through esophageal cancer and it has been a cruel journey to say the least. He has Mets to the lung and eating is nearly impossible. His battle has certainly taken a toll on him and the family feels so helpless. I so hope they are able to get your husbands pain better controlled. As Greg noted, hospice is priceless. They helped with our mother and were so compassionate with her and us. Hoping for some relief for your husband.

His daughter was with us and she is LPN she asked about it and the doctor explained that because of redness in stomach also he would most likely get infection. We go in again next week maybe get better answers then. I'm sure hubby is wanting the Chemo if possible .They sent Biopsy out to see if new chemo drug will work on it

Hello, I am an oncology nurse. You might want to ask his doctor if he is a candidate for TPN which is given through an I V. It is total parenteral nutrition. It is a nightly infusion of nutrients and lipids to build up his strength and the lipids will put weight on him. There are some targeted therapies not to mention the immunotherapies that might be an option for him...options beside chemotherapy. These are questions that you can address with your MD. Best of luck to you both.
