Other Care (Home care): Last internal radiation therapy was not a good experience. Dr. did not explain procedure. Dr. had not read my history of PT

The final radiation treatment was internal targeted. I left this treatment with a quarter size decubitus on my butt, weakened by diarrhea, nausea, and panic attacks from my PTSD. I was depressed and agitated from the pain. Nursing care and home health came in to help me with dressing the decubitus and help me bath, make my bed, wash dishes and clothes.

Hi Patties, I was diagnosed in April. I have done surgery, paperwork, gotten Chemo Dr. and Radiation Dr. Have had Cat and Pet scans and have MRI coming up. My question is ........ Before treatment did you have low energy level? When you were going through treatment, was it daily weekly, monthly? I will have Chem through port and Radiation at the same time. Do they do both on the same day? How are you now and are you glad to be out of the other end of this? What can I expect with my recovery?

Hi susanmck, Before treatment I was more tense than anything else due to the diagnosis. I had 5 weekly chemos and 25 daily external radiation at the same time. after the 5 weeks were up my blood counts got very low so and I became very fatigued, anemic, and my WBC and Platelets we horrible. I ended up stuck in my home for 3 weeks and had to have a blood transfusion. Then came brachytherapy (internal radiation). I finished up at the end of May. After I finished treatment I was very fatigued and was still dealing with radiation side effects but after about 6 weeks things started to improve. I am doing much better now. I just started excercising again. I still have bouts of fatigue when I do too much but things are getting better! Hope this helps.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): I need to get to that point where I am not ashamed, not embarrassed, find someone to talk to and treat this with anger and "I'm going to beat this thing up and live my life".

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): My PTSD reared its ugly head again.
