It sounds like you are feeling tired of dealing with stage 4 cancer. If that is how you feel I understand that feeling. I have never been on xeloda but I have been on a few other chemo drugs recently. Have you ever tried xeloda yourself? If not maybe if you tried it you won't have bad side effects yourself. Also have you ever tried talking to a mental health counselor on a regular basis about what you are going thru with stage 4 cancer. It has been very helpful to me to do this myself. I wish you the best of luck today in your appointment with the nurse practicioner and whatever decisions for yourself that you make.

I'm scared too. I have to switch to Xeloda because my current treatment is no longer working. I am also worried about side effects but I know I won't get them all and my body is pretty tolerant considering what I've been through. I wish I knew if this will work for me or not and I wonder a lot about how long I have but Robin Roberts said if you are depressed you are living in the past, if you are anxious you are living in the future. All we have is right now. I try to make the best informed decisions I can but I also have to put my faith in my doctor and my God and live in the here and now. Hugs and best wishes to you. I'm waiting for mine to show up in the mail. Check In with me and let me know how you are doing. Hugs friend!

You sound more scared of these little pills that could save your life than you are scared of the cancer itself! This is a misdirected fear by the way, please seek some sort of help if you can. Your oncologist is only trying to save your life!
You may not get any SE at all from the Xeloda or only a few, I was on a somewhat high dosage for 4.5 years 3 pills X a day and I only got fatigue and a little bit of the red hand/mouth syndrome. They only took me off of it for something that worked better. I’m also tired of dealing with stage IV cancer but I am not tired of being alive! I hope that you get over this hurtle and that you at least try the Xeloda I found it extremely tolerable and everyone I know who has been on it also finds it extremely tolerable. I also think that you are very luck to have this option, it could be much worse. Good luck to you and God bless!!!! HUGS!!!!!!

I suffered with depression after finishing treatment and more so when I was on the AI's. I tried anti-depressants but eventually gave up on them.

Talk to your pcp and see what he/she recommends...All the best to you

Definitely talk to your Oncologist or PCP about it. If you've had depression before, what did you do for it then? Anything that helped? Fighting cancer and depression is a double whammy, and if I were you, I would definitely seek help from a counselor, who can help you set goals and get on top of it. Best of luck to you.
