Yes, I had a double mastectomy in 05-13 with direct to implants six surgerys later and the lost of the implants I had HORRIBLE pain at night that I would wake up screaming or crying. My radiation oncologist directed me to physical therapy and WOW has that helped. My PT said it was because I was leaning my shoulders in for almost two years to protect myself from the pain and after the last surgery in December the seratis (sp?) muscle became involved.....that is the main muscle that connects to your front rib cage up to your shoulder and to the center of your back rib cage (very simple description). I would urge you to see a PT who is trained in breast cancer. The first month all she did was rub and deep rub the affected areas so much that it made me cry from the pain......however, two months later I am almost on my own for doing shoulder exercises at home and feeling SOOOOOOOO much better. You are describing exactly what I felt like prior to PT. I could not even wipe off my kitchen counter without pain. I am working REALLY hard on these exercises (some I can do in the car at a red light). Right now with the nice weather I do my exercises on my patio and the breeze and just being outside keeps me going. I am sure I will be doing these the rest of my life, however, if it keeps that horrible pain away I will do it. Good luck.

I have not experienced this and am so sorry you are! OMG I would dump the PS who said that to you and am glad to hear you're getting a second opinion! I can't imagine having dealt with this for the length of time you have been. I pray you get the help you need. I would report that PS to the medical group he/she works for. trust me being involved in Quality management like I am, that is unacceptable to be treated this way. Best wishes to you!!

I have expanders in and it hurts like crazy my breast cancer surgeon described it to my husband as my skin rubbing sandpaper 24 hours a day. I was told once the expanders are out the pain should go away. Not sure why your still hurting if they removed the expanders. Please see another plastic surgeon and if you have a good relationship with any of the cancer doctors, I would talk with them. Best wishes to you. No one should be in that much pain.
