Had lung surgery Dec. 5, 2013, had lower lob of left lung removed, got it all. Went for checkup yesterday and lymph nodes are cancer free! NO CHEMO! I'm still in a lot of pain but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. My heart goes out to those of you who aren't so fortunate. I attribute the warmth and directness of my surgeon to helping me get through the surgery. He believed and his encouragement was transferred to me; I believed.

    Hi Madge123,
I just found out at the end of September 2013 and then had the biopsy. Went to surgeon on October 30 and I'm waiting for approval to have surgery. I take care of my mother with some dementia, so I'm also trying to figure out what to do with her while I'm in the hospital and afterwards. I don't know much at this point, except the PET scan was clean...good thing. So I'm not much help in the info department. The worse part is I'm alone to deal with it, that's why I thought if I could talk to other people....

I hear you! Can your cancer team help with any info on helping with your mother? I know here they probably can. Being alone is hard, so if you have a team, use them.
