You may want to ask your doctor to check for thyroid disease or Hashimoto's Disease.

My mother was on Gleevec for leukemia. It did thin her hair, but she still had a full head of hair.

I felt great on prednisone. I had so much energy and felt really good.. But I got huge and could not loose an ounce. Otherwise I loved it.

Sorry I meant to say while my daughter was on prednisone those things she could tolerate and highly minimized the side effects she had been having.

Almost 6 years after a bmt I still take prednisone and find 20mg still makes my head buzz, heart race, and appetite is insatiable. The good news is you won't be on that high of a dose forever. Cut back on the caffeine (I live in the Northwest and live on caffeine, this is an unwelcome truth for me), take your prednisone as early in the day as you can, and burn that extra energy off so you can sleep at night.

Wow 49 years ago. Were you in treatment for that long. What a journey that must have been. I'm recovering from AL. Had a bone marrow transplant 10 months ago. It has been a long couple of years. Total of ten weeks in hospital over the last year. I'm doing good. Still on anti rejection med, so my immune system is low and my blood numbers are not at normal range. Hope you are doing well and are happy.

Yes, next June (2014) will be 50 years. I am known as "Ella" in the book, "The Emperor of ALL Maladies" I was one of the first to receive the treatment of VAMP, by Dana Farber. God Bless you and stay strong! Never give up hope! Karen Lord
