Other Care (Uterine polyp): I was dianosed with polycystic ovaries and a uterine polyp last month. I am waiting for my next surgery and am terrified that the biopsy will come back as a cancerous tumor.

Procedure or Surgery (Surgery): I had an open partial nephrectomy on my right side on April 2, 2012. I was very lucky in that my surgeon was able to remove the tumor and did not have to take much of my kidney. Recovery has been very slow, and I still have numbness in my right side and almost constant pain.

Oh No (Health insurance issue): In late January 2012, my urologist determined that it was almost definitely renal cell carcinoma and set a date for surgery. Unfortunately, I did not have insurance. My doctor was wonderful in helping me find resources and in agreeing to do what turned out to be a partial open nephrectomy at a lowered cost, by using the surgery as a learning experience for his students at EVMS.

Oh No (Initial diagnosis): I was hospitalized in early December 2012, due to a high fever and the doctors were concerned about pain I had been experiencing in my side. After a CT scan of my intestines, they came back with a possible diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.
