    Question: Circling the drain

Fed up with doctors so I cancelled all follow-ups. And isn't it strange for a doctor to leave a patient to have her own procedure done?

So sorry to hear of your ordeal. I always get ALL the reports from the hospital, labs, op report, discharge summary, etc. I would certainly be upset about my doctor leaving during my surgery. I left a surgeon because when I read the op report, I found he had never even touched me in surgery, an intern did the surgery, after I traveled hours to specifically have this particular surgeon do my surgery. Keep up the good work on your diet! I lost weight with South Beach diet, which is mostly protein and veggies. Good thoughts going your way!

Did you check your bill. Since you have to pay your doctors individually her part of the surgery should be itemized. If you or your insurance paid her you should sue. Not for medical malpractice but for fraud. Talk to a lawyer. I also think your insurance company might like to know about this.

Goodness, there are a lot of medical horror stories out there! I'm sorry you had to go through this. That seems just plain wrong that the surgeon became a patient herself part way through your surgery.

There are surgeons who have the bedside manner of a boa constrictor, and I had one of 'em do my hysterectomy. He was a very good surgeon, however, so I came to the conclusion that my psyche really didn't come under his area of expertise, and I just laughed it off. Anything to do with our psyches would be, in my opinion, more in the area of a counselor or therapist. It might be helpful to see one of them for the issues you're struggling with.

You've done the right thing by being proactive about your health care by seeing the dietitian, and i wish you the best, losing weight is hard, for certain.
