I am looking for anyone that had Squamous cell neck cancer that later spread into their chest.

How did you move forward with treatment and what were the outcomes?

Decision Point (I have asked for a second opinion at MD Anderson in Houston): The down side to this is that I am currently receiving ten radiation treatments for my back which end on 1-7. I am then planning to travel to Houston to get a second opinion on the next steps for treatment. I am hoping and praying for some good news as I have received little over the past few weeks.

Oh No (Cancer has spread/Metastasized): I was told that my Squamish cell carcinoma resonded well to Cis platinum treatment along with the radiation but after three months and a PET scan, they found multiple cancer spots in my chest. I have a couple on my back and one on a rib as well as several lymph nodes. There are also two spots on my lung. I have been devastated to think that my odds were so good to get this news.

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): I took two strong treatments of Cis platinum while doing the radiation. The were given at the one and three week time slots.

Radiation (Internal radiation): I went through six weeks of radiation to my neck and throat on the left side. By the time I was done, I had lost almost 40 pounds and could barely eat anything. I did not get a feeding tube since I had radiation on one side and the doctors thought I could tolerate the therapy in that situation.

I feel your pain, I lost 50 # too. Sores in my mouth, lost my voice for a month, could only whisper. That was a tough period. Radiation this time was much harder on me than 24 years ago when I had it the first time
