Your Thyroid affects so many things in your body it is really hard to find the balance sometimes. I dress in layers so that I can easily change my comfort levels. I find that having a fan around when I get hot helps, especially in the evening (on my face). An ice pack or a heating pad on the back of the neck helps a lot, I keep many microwave versions on hand.
I have found after my last treatment I feel the need to be barefoot at the strangest times - it drives my husband crazy. Once you have gone through treatment you will get your thyroid levels balanced. You will learn to live in layers but the extremes will even out. If you need to talk I am available - Tracy

Yes these are symptoms that your thyroid medication levels are off. Talk to your endocrinologist.

I have thyroid cancer of the follicluar variant stage II. Total thyroidectomy 11/14/11 and given my diagnosis on 11/29/11. Be patient with yourself. I had my I131 on 1/10/12. I was started on 112mcg of Synthroid right after surgery and am now on 162mcg. 18 months after initial surgery, I feel myself again except for the heat intolerance and occassional heart palpatations. I was told that I have to stay on a suppression dose of the Synthroid to help keep the cancer from coming back which is the cause of he symptoms. So I have gotten used to the heat intolerance and such. You will feel better eventually!!!!

I have had my thyroid med changed about 4 times since my surgery a year ago. I am lucky to be sympton free through the process. I have heard from others that eventually the symptons regress. I had the I131 radiation. Was not a pleasant experience the first week afterward. But that did get better.

I had it too, just go strictly by the diet to avoid foods that contain iodine and it will be successful. My Dr. said she had never seen iodine levels to low as mine were before taking I131. I only had it once, then had two Thyroid scans and I am totally free of thyroid tissue. So take that diet very seriously, there is a great download online to help with recipes and make that I131 do it's job. By the way, mine was in a small blue capsule, not liquid. Be prepared with the paper plates and such, scoot all pets out of the house as those guys are in harms way from the radiation too.

Like your other two answers, I, too, have had the I-131 treatment. Not sure where you are going for your treatment, but my I-131 was in liquid form. Has no taste. Do what it takes to get it done. Greg also has my e-mail and has permission to pass it on. From one Okie to another, you can do this. Be sure the doctors you are seeing have treated this disease many times. All doctors treating this disease ARE NOT this same. Also, if you are doing this treatment, make sure you get the Thyrogen injections which make is unnecessary to withdraw from your meds. Best regards.
