I'm so sorry about your wife. The love you two shared is a blessing and although your loss is devastating, just having had the time you had together is more than many ever find. Your strength is amazing and your devotion beautiful. Thank you for sharing this time in your life and I wish you the best in the times to follow.

I had this problem for a long time after a colon resection. I was prescribed Lomotil which was helpful. I was allowed to play with the dose & adjust it. Also, many people do not realize that Metamucil (or generic) can also help in a low dose without so much liquid. I take it in capsule form with just a bit of liquid a couple times a day. In the body it absorbs water & provides bulk. Again, the dose would have to be played with. This helps me better than medication. I hope it passes soon. Good luck!

Have her check with her doctor. Mine had me take more than what the dose instructions say. I believe it was twice as much as the directions on the box.

My doctors told me to stay away from fruits and veggies. They also had me double the amount of immodium but did not take it any more frequently.

My wife has had a full week of radiation and ! chemo treatment that lasted about 3 hours! Seems like she's feeling a little better than before! Too early to tell for sure! Still won't eat and that concerns me! She's a very large woman and she's having trouble getting around without help! She fell 2 times in past week from being so weak! Trying to get her a walker a wheelchair and a portable toilet but the radiation and chemo doctors won't sign script for it, say her primary doctor has to do it! She doesn't have a doctor and she's on Medicare and Medicaid! Im going to contact social sevices for help cause she needs these things ASAP! Keep her in ur prayers!

If you need assistance, you might want to try the American Cancer Society at the phone number to the right and bottom of this page. They might be able to help.

I'm with Freebird on this one. Carnation instant breakfast rocks! I make one every morning. I use the vanilla since I drink a real chocolate shake every night. I like to blend a banana or some peaches into mine every once in awhile..mmmmmm! I will also add, I was doing this long before the cancer, lol. I raised my son on these as well..he ate a good breakfast each morning before school but he also drank one of these with each breakfast. He's now pre-med (a nurtrition major) and still drinks one in the mornings. =)

I also have GERDS which has gone crazy since treatments began. Generic GAS EX helps me. Fiber will give you gas if you increase it in your diet, at least until your body acclimates to the increased fiber. It took about a month before my mom stopped having issues with the gas that she got from some fiber bars she added to her diet.

Lets first concentrate on treating your wife's cancer.... Lawsuits and such can wait. I was given six months to live.... six and a half years ago.... So let's not rally round your 'not much time' news. I was 62 when diagnosed... my doctor was in tears wondering how she had missed a 39 lb tumor.. (Ovarian Cancer) Stage IV. I hugged her and said... Hey... let's just move on. I was tested and scanned and put in touch with a Gynicological Oncologist Surgeon...(Look for one in your area, go to this specalist.... It can be the difference. I was told that this specialty has the latest and greatest for curing Ovarian and Cervical cancers.... After surgery they did a PET CT Scan and there was no cancer in my body. This surgeon had carefully sectioned and scraped the cancer from the outside of my intestine and euretha....... Two years of specific chemo to catch any little cells that wanted to start more trouble... One of the biggest things that helped me was putting my faith in my God and then my surgeon. I asked God to lead me to where he wanted me to go..... He has brought me to here. Next month my grandson gets married to a lovely young woman. I have two Great Grand Children (under two). I've been to Cape Cod, (always wanted to go) I'm going to my son's wedding next year and life really is good. You and your wife must plan for the future together... see yourselves there... and ask God to lead you there!!!!
