I'm not sure what consolidation Chemo is BUT you need to respect her wishes. She needs to get all the facts and do some of her own research and see if the benefits outweigh the risks especially at her age.

If it's done in the hospital, there is a reason for it. So, I would assume that it is difficult and the patient needs to be monitored during this time. It might just be to keep an I.V. going to keep the patient hydrated. I had all my chemo outpatient, but was so wiped out, I could have spent the night during my last 3 treatments.

When I had consolidation chemo it was much easier than the original chemo, the side effects came after the hospitalization when your platelet count drops down and may require transfusions.

I'm in hospital having had daily chemo (not first time induction) to get me to remission. It's medium intensity.

Previous chemos had not given me any side effects and they do vary from person to person so if I were you I'd look up the specific ones for the treatment being given and watch for those. For me, this time I have suffered mucositis and this itself varies in intensity from person to person.
