I was in the SAME situation....6 years ago. I had AML and a bone marrow transplant from my sister (100% match). 6 weeks later my leukemia was back. I too was angry, scared, confused, etc. I was told that I had a pretty high chance of survival and that my med center (Nebraska Medicine) was in it for the CURE! Long story short, my sister came back to donate again - ha....she was about as thrilled as I. lol They gave me a transplant of ONLY her MATURE WHITE cells....it was so easy this time. Just a shot in my PICC line of her cells and here I am....6 years a Survivor. Please don't lose hope....when you lose hope, you lose everything. Stay positive and just take it one day at a time. Blessings.....Lisa

The worst part of the stem cell transplant (and medical professionals tout it as the cure for leukemia) is the chemo you have to endure prior to the transplant. Mine was 5 days of 24/7 chemo...it knocks everything out of your blood so the transplant will be fresh with no cancer to deal with. The transplant itself was a piece of cake...literally! It was just like a blood transfusion and my med team brought me a little chocolate cake! Signifying this day is day #1 of a new life. :D Good luck and you will be in my prayers. xxxx
