In October 2010 found tumor within my right kidney, November 2010 tumor was removed and was found to have a rare kidney cancer called Collecting Duct Carcinoma. A decision was made to remove the right kidney, which was done on
January 31, 2011. No cancer found in the kidney, but some was found in the lymph nodes and removed. I was given a clean bill of health, so no chemo or radiation. CT Scan every 3 months for the rest of 2011. Everything looked good so CT Scans would now be every 6 months. April 2012 swollen lymphs nodes were found in the mediastinum and the paratracheal oneal. Sent to Oncologist on May 16th and then unto a Thoracic surgeon for a biopsy. They found that the Collecting Duct Carcinoma had returned. I was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for a second opinion. I was told that with this cancer that I was lucky I had survived this long. So my last CT Scan showed that two of the tumors have grown slightly and some shrunk. At this time I am still in good health and will not start any treatments. I know that there is no treatment for this cancer that can save me and I am dealing with that, it's just that my family still believes that a miracle will come along and save me. My only wish is that the aggessive part of this cancer stays at a slow pace to give me more time with my family.
