Decision Point (Further treatment options): My form of DCIS has a rather high recurrence rate, but the DCIS was very small with good margins. I opted for no further treatment, especially because it was in my left breast, and I do not want to run a risk of cardiovascular damage from radiation.

Procedure or Surgery (Lumpectomy): I didn't like having to sleep in a bra for what seemed like ages.

Decision Point (Treatment Options): Not many options to choose from at this point. It seems small, but potentially aggressive, so a lumpectomy is the way to go, then see what the pathology report shows to decide from there.

Oh No (Other): I was told that the biopsy procedure was painless, that I would be given a local anesthetic. Well, I got the anesthetic, but I could still feel the pain of the procedure. Sedation would have been much better, although more inconvenient.
