For uLMS there isn't a hormonal treatment that has shown any evidence of improving outcomes, so knowing if it is positive or negative doesn't really help.

On another note, for uLMS, surgery is the standard, there have been many clinical trials on radiation & chemo that show no evidence of any positive impact. That being said, my onc & I opted for gemzare/ taxotere chemo because my grade was off the charts, I had extensive vascular invasion, & these giant weird cells, & the tumor had grown huge in just a matter of weeks. There has been some benefit with this cocktail, but doesn't seem to improve OS.

I thought, can't hurt, right? But this chemo was brutal & I have lasting effects. I actually had to stop chemo halfway through. You could talk to your oncologist about this cocktail. It seems to be the best they have to offer.

      Best of luck.

I have uLMS which had metastisized. I too did taxotere and gmzare and it is brutal and the cancer came back. After surgery to remove it once again, I this time am doing doxerubicin and Latruvo (a new just approved chemo for sarcoma's). Just finished the rounds of doxerubicin and will be doing the Latruvo indefinitely. This is relativly a new chemo to treat leomyosarcoma so alot of my questions are left unanswered. I just try my best to live my life to the fullest. This time around has been super hard emotionally as friends that I perceived to be close life long friends have backed away. I have many support people but the emotional grief of losing those who you felt were closest is hard. As far as the tumor being aggressive my grew at least 1cm a week thus making treatment choices as quickly as possible important. Each person is different. I wish you the best and sorry for unloading about my crap...

Other Care (Psychosocial): Started seeing a therapist to help deal with grief and loss associated with living with cancer. Has helped immensely and I am on an as needed basis now. It was recommended I ask my primary for some medical support but I have not been brave enough to do that.

Celebration (Clear scans for 9 months): I go to UC Hospital in Denver and have had three scans and am still currently NED. Doctor pushed next scan to 4 months. He wanted to go to 6 and I told him NO!

Decision Point (Whether or not to do any adjacent treatment): Went to sarcoma specialist after surgery was complete. Was told there was no evidence that chemo would help prevent recurrence or would not and sarcoma specialist did not really recommend. No radiation was prudent at this time. Follow up scans would be done every three months for 2 years
