Hi Calvert, I am 61, and just had my prostate removed in November. I was diagnosed in September. So, I think you are traveling the same path. I actually prefer the females doing my tests and working on me. I don't like men messing with my privates. However, what ever makes you comfortable is what you should have, this can be a very trying time. I wish you luck in whatever procedures you follow, and if I can help in any way, please ask.

I was diagnosed in September, and I had my prostate removed November 7.
I'm glad that I did, the tumor was larger and more aggressive than the doctors first believed. The pathology on my prostate showed that I was at stage t3a. I had my first post op psa test in February and was at 0. Wow, was I happy. I am still having some incontinence, I wear a pad in public, but I don't usually at home anymore. It is continually getting better. Sexual function has not returned yet. Those are the bad side effects, the major side effect is that I get to keep on living, so I can handle the bad ones. I am happy with the choice of treatment that I made. I wish I had not had to go through this and put my family through this, but such is life. We do what we have to do. I try to keep a positive attitude, and I will continue to live and enjoy my life, fishing, golfing, family and friends.
good luck to all.
