How critical is it that I have a repeat colonoscopy done in 6 months?

That really isn't a call that anybody else but you can make based on your priorities. As Clint Eastwood said, "Do you feel lucky?"

I do have a friend who has a rare, rapid growing polyps situation. She has had 6 month colonoscopies for years, and has precancerous polyps removed at every one. She is also a breast cancer survivor.

I would say go for the 6 month colonoscopy. Hopefully, they'll rule out the rapid regrowth polyps, and let you go to a longer interval.

Other Care (Other): I am a D.E.S. daughter - my mother had 8 problem pregnancies with loss of all 8 babies. Her doctor gave her D.E.S. to help her to have a complete pregnancy. I was in fact her only full term baby, she carried me for a total of 10 months, and I weighted over 9 pounds. I began having problems with periods at around the age of 14, progressed rapidly with my own pregnancies not going full term,. Upon looking back at my mothers records my GYN discovered I was exposed to D.E.S. causing me to have ovarian, uterine, and cervix cancer. I had my hysterectomy at age 23.
