Why aren't you asking this question of your doctor, who is an expert in gynecological oncology?

My hematologist/oncologist recommended I wait until after I had completed my treatments. According to her, I had enough going on (sandwich treatment). That time has come for me, so thanks for the reminder to set up a mammogram! Best of luck to you.

Same as mojoback, my hema/onc said to wait until treatment was over. Today was my first abdominal scan since it ended (for endo Cancer) and they had me get a chest scan as well. As long as everything is ok, he'll order the mammogram in about 6 weeks. I also asked for a colonoscopy and he looked at me like I was nuts and said not til I'm 50. I read if you have a gyno Cancer you should have that and a mammogram in case of metastasis. Hopefully the CT Scan is sufficient.

Symptom Management: Got dehydrated so had to get IV put in to hydrate myself. Also found out I was giving myself the wrong kind of TLC and got some fluid in lungs. Will have to be tougher to myself after the chemo.

Procedure or Surgery (Implant chemotherapy port): Lots of pulling from the boobies on the skin around the port. Very sore around that as well as at the neck vein insertion. Hurt like crazy when poking for first treatment. Very swollen.

I had a port put in last Friday, mine hurts if you touch any area around it, the doctors say looks good, it's black and blue, swollen, and has those blood soaked tapes on it . I hope when I have chemo next week it will be ok.

Sherrya, make certain the staff puts in the iv needle that matches your port. I know it took them 2 time to poke with a different one than pictured in the brochure I got with the port. Mine wasn't black, blue, or bloody until after chemo. Also numbing lotion mentioned somewhere else on this forum may be good. Implanted 2 days before treatment. Hope the port works for you.

My mother is having a port placed next week. What is the numbing lotion called? Is it a prescription? I hope all is well with your port and treatment goes smoothly

Drug or Chemo Therapy (Chemotherapy): First day of chemo treatment. Was given lots of info and plan to try to read most of it over the weekend. Felt the effects of the benedryl big time. Drank plenty of water during the procedure and afterwards. Should have gotten some ice chips before and right after to reduce mouth sores.
