Celebration (Finished treatment): Well, after her treatments where over I thought it appropriate to celebrate treatment completion. One thing I can say is that my sister is a trooper. She was strong in her ability to make it through the treatment without having to be admitted to the hospital. She went through the pain, weight loss, aggravation, weakness, repetition and all and came out on top. I applud her for,she had the strength and I thank God for pulling us and her through. Now we are just waiting for her to go bacl for her check up to find out the results of all the treatment that she has endured. We are praying that everything is good this time.

Drug or Chemo Therapy: During the chemo procedure, Yvonne had very small veins and had to have a port placed in her chest inorder to receive her chemo treatment once a week. She had to sit each week for about 2 1/2 hours or more depending on the dosage of chemo that was needed for her from week to week for 6 weeks. She is mentally handicapped and she really did not understand what was really happening to her. She just knew that she was sick, so as her brother and her caregiver I had to explain to her everyday almost what was happening or was going to happen to her.

Side Effects (Vaginal dryness or irritation): My sister experienced vaginal dryness, itching, scarring, dryness and vaginal wounds that in some cases where open. She was also bowel incontinent and urinary incontinent, because the tenderness of the vaginal didn't give her the ability to hold herself until she could reach a bathroom. She would scratch because of the dryness sometimes to the point of bleeding. More side effects included her potassium levels dropping often to the point that she had to get a potassium fusion weekly.

Radiation (External radiation ): there are some visible marks that are left behind. sometimes the treatment can be very painful when it is all done. its easy in the beginning but after the treatment is done it all depends on your theshold of pain whether you can stand the after effects.
