I am so sorry to hear what your going thru. It sounds like you have good doctors and staff making it easier to understand. I did not have to have my breast removed because I have triple negative breast cancer. I'm currently in radiation treatment. I have till the end of this month and then my treatment is over. However I am having more pain from the Chemo now that it's done than when I was in treatment. Joints and hands.

Procedure or Surgery (Mastectomy): I was scheduled for a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I woke up to having one breast removed and everything else delayed due to a finding of cancer in 8 lymph nodes.

Other Care (CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine)): I saw Rhona Jordan for a guided imagery session to prepare me for surgery. After our appointment, I felt relaxed and confident all the way through.

Decision Point (Type of reconstruction): I knew I didn't want implants, which was the only reconstruction my insurance offered. After reading "The Breast Reconstruction Handbook," I knew I wanted the DIEP Flap procedure. It took 2 calls to the state insurance commission, but now my insurance has agreed to pay for it.
